Abstract

Violin is a stringed instrument that is played by friction and includes musical instruments. Chordophone which is widely played in various types of music around the world. The main problem in this research is how to interpret the dynamics of the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the violin instrument using imitation and drill methods on students of the Music Education Study Program, Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang. the researcher uses a qualitative approach, namely data collected and expressed in the form of words and pictures. the method used is a field study and literature study consisting of observation, interviews, documentation. The results of this study indicate that the application of dynamics interpretation with the song model somewhere over the rainbow to Unwira Kupang music education students is carried out in 3 stages, namely: the initial stage, (recruitment of music education students, determining the practice schedule) Core stage, (starting from introduction, provision of material, introduction of dynamic signs, introduction of song models) final stage (taking video results) it was concluded that in the research process the researcher found several obstacles, namely in the long friction technique and legato technique, and the most prominent was in playing dynamic signs this problem can be overcome by applying imitation and drill methods where researchers provide learning by giving examples first and researchers ask students to imitate, and this is applied repeatedly and as a result students experience an increase in the game, especially the application of dynamics to the song somewhere over the rainbow.
