Abstract
Thesis title: Effectiveness of implementing self-monitoring strategies through group counseling to increase student learning motivation. The problems studied in this research are 1) Why do self-monitoring strategies through group counseling need to be implemented to increase student learning motivation? 2) What are the procedures for implementing self-monitoring strategies through group counseling to increase student learning motivation? 3) Is the implementation of self-monitoring strategies through group counseling effective for increasing student learning motivation? The purpose of this research is to determine: 1) The reasons for implementing the self-monitoring strategy through group counseling to increase student learning motivation. 2) The procedure for implementing the self-monitoring strategy through group counseling to increase student learning motivation, and 3) The effectiveness of implementing the self-monitoring strategy through group counseling to increasing student learning motivation. The method used in this research is literature study. The object of study is self-monitoring strategies, group counseling and learning motivation. The data source is a secondary data source. The type of data is qualitative data. The results of the study show that the selfmonitoring strategy can be used to increase students' learning motivation, because the self-monitoring strategy is a way for individuals (counselees) to plan, act and regulate decisions in behaving in social situations. The procedure for implementing the self-monitoring strategy through group counseling is carried out through six stages of group counseling, namely the pre-counseling stage, the beginning of the transition, work, the end and the post-counseling stage. At the work stage, counselors facilitate counselees to increase students' learning motivation using selfmonitoring strategies with the following steps: rational strategies, choosing responses, recording responses, and mapping responses. The effectiveness of selfmonitoring strategies through group counseling to increase student learning motivation is proven by the research results of Utomo et al., (2020). Based on the results of the study above, researchers provide suggestions to: 1) Guidance and counseling teachers are expected to deepen their knowledge, insight and skills so that they are better able to implement self-monitoring strategies through group counseling services to help students who have problems, especially problems with low learning motivation, and 2) researchers are expected to be able to increase knowledge, insight and skills so that in the future they can implement selfmonitoring strategies through group counseling to increase student learning motivation.
