Abstract

Traffic is an important aspect of urban life that can affect people's mobility, travel time and quality of life. One important indicator in analyzing the effectiveness and comfort of a transportation system is the degree of traffic saturation. The degree of saturation reflects the level of traffic density on a highway at a certain time. One factor that can influence the degree of traffic saturation is vehicle speed. Basically, when vehicle speed increases, the available space on the highway can be used more efficiently, thereby reducing the level of density and degree of saturation. However, not all high-speed vehicles indicate that the road has a low degree of saturation and a good level of service. There are some drivers who are used to driving at low speeds to avoid the risk of traffic accidents or maintain the fuel efficiency of their vehicles. This research aims to see the effect of vehicle speed on the degree of saturation. Obtained an equation model of the relationship between the degree of saturation due to the influence of speed Y = -0.0047X2 + 0.1946X – 1.0249, with a coefficient of determination (r2) of 0.8812 and a comparison of the values of tcount = 13.6162 and ttable = 2.0595.
