Abstract
Nenggo is a characteristic Manggarai cultural song at certain traditional celebrations. The philosophy of life of the Manggarai people is expressed through Nenggo, which is sung spontaneously according to the context of traditional ceremonies, including the song Molas Nungku Tenung in the Caci performance. For the Manggarai people, Nenggo is not just a cultural aesthetic but has quite an important cultural message. The problem raised in this research is: what is the meaning of the lyrics of the song Molas Nungku Tenung in Nenggo in the Caci game in Tebo village, Tengku Lese village, North Rahong sub-district, and Manggarai district? This research aims to find out the meaning of the lyrics of the song Molas Nungku Tenung in Nenggo at the Caci performance in Tebo village, Tengku Lese village, North Rahong sub-district, and Manggarai district. This research is qualitative in nature. The research methods used are ethnography and data collection techniques obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that the Nnenggo song has three meanings: lexical meaning, connotative meaning, and emotional meaning. The lexical meaning of the Nenggo song contains the expression of a husband who saw that his wife had put on the wrong suri (a loom that functions as a separator between threads to run other threads to produce a woven cloth). Meanwhile, the connotative meaning of the Nenggo song is the expression above when it is related to the current situation of the people women rarely weave, so this expression symbolizes the dedication of a woman who devotes herself to giving birth, raising, and educating her children with great love so that they can become useful children in the future. Meanwhile, the meaning of the emotion in the Nenggo song above is an expression of disappointment. A husband found that his wife did not have the skills to weave songke cloth, which is a specialty of Manggarai women.
