Abstract
Vocal music is a type of music produced from the human voice. What vocal music means is how we develop our ability to sing. Currently, vocal techniques in singing in East Nusa Tenggara have become something that is commonly practiced well, but some vocal techniques in this case, such as articulation techniques, are given less attention when singing. At SMP Negeri 7 Kupang, there are many students who have the ability to sing, but when singing they don't pay attention to the good and correct pronunciation of the words in the song. The author sees this as a problem that will lead to research being studied. Researchers chose SMP Negeri 7 Kupang as the research location according to the problems that occurred. The author saw this phenomenon and made this research aimed at training and improving articulation techniques in singing which are still very lacking among female students at SMP Negeri 7 Kupang. Researchers specifically took 10 people consisting of 5 women and 5 men to sing the song Indonesia Pusaka created by Izmail Marzuki. The research method used by researchers is the field action method using a qualitative approach and using drill and demonstration learning methods. The research results collected by the researcher were organized into three steps: the initial step (recruitment), the core step (nine meetings), and the final step (evaluation). The learning material in each meeting begins with a vocal warm-up using two etudes and practice forming articulation techniques for each song lyric. Thus, the conclusion of this research is that through the three materials prepared by the researcher, female students can understand and practice the Indonesian Pusaka song using articulation techniques well. So the use of drill and demonstration learning methods has proven to be effective in helping female students during the training process to develop good and correct articulation techniques in singing.
