Abstract

As public interest in religious tourism continues to grow, the city of Larantuka in East Flores Regency stands out as a prominent destination with a strong identity as a Catholic city. Its rich religious traditions, particularly the Semana Santa and Easter processions, have made Larantuka a spiritual and cultural center that attracts thousands of pilgrims each year. However, this significant potential has yet to be fully accommodated through a well-planned and functional architectural area. Taman Doa Bukit Fatimah, as a key spiritual site, requires development that not only supports religious activities but also enhances the city’s spiritual identity and offers social and economic value to the local community. This final project proposes the design of a religious tourism area that integrates spaces for worship and contemplation with the grandeur and solemnity of Neo-Gothic Architecture. This architectural approach is selected to evoke sacredness and monumentality, while still respecting the deeply rooted local cultural values. It is hoped that this design will make a meaningful contribution to preserving Larantuka’s spiritual traditions and supporting the sustainable development of religious tourism in East Nusa Tenggara.
