Abstract

The rapid growth of Kupang City as a center of economic and social activity in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province has significantly increased the mobility of its residents. This has led to the dominance of private vehicles, resulting in traffic congestion, air pollution, and a decline in the quality of public transportation services. To address these issues, the development of a high-speed rail station is proposed as an efficient, environmentally friendly mass transportation solution that supports regional connectivity, including with the neighboring country of Timor-Leste. This study aims to design a high-speed rail station in Kupang City using a contemporary architectural approach that accommodates functional, aesthetic, and environmental sustainability needs. The research methods include primary data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation, as well as secondary data from relevant institutions. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses are applied to understand spatial requirements and site characteristics. The outcome of this study is a station design that not only meets contemporary architectural standards but also serves as a new landmark representing the dynamic identity of Kupang City and contributes to improving the quality of life for its residents in a sustainable manner.
