Abstract

Melo Rei singing is one type of traditional singing originating from Pagomogo Village, Nangaroro District, Nagekeo Regency. This song is used in the Nuka Ola ceremony as an expression of gratitude for the harvest, and is performed at night in April. The problems raised in this study are how the presentation form of Melo Rei singing and the meaning of Melo Rei singing in the Nuka Ola traditional ceremony. This research aims to describe the presentation form of Melo Rei singing and explore and find the meaning of "Melo Rei" singing in the Nuka Ola traditional ceremony. This research aims to describe the presentation form of Melo Rei singing and explore and find the meaning of "Melo Rei" singing in the Nuka Ola traditional ceremony. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and ethnographic method.The research data used are primary and secondary data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the presentation form of Melo Rei singing consists of 3 stages, namely, the preparation stage in the form of Lo Pakia (changing clothes), the core stage in the form of Rei singing (opening song) and continued with Melo singing (closing song of the Nuka Ola ceremony). And the closing stage is Oko Nalo (eating together).The meaning contained in the Melo Rei song is as an expression of joy for the harvest, supplication to the ancestors and motivation for the community to always work hard to make ends meet.
