Abstract
The Influence of Parenting Patterns according to Student Perceptions on Self-Adjustment of Eighth Grade B Students at State Junior High School 5 Kupang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The general problem in this study is whether there is an influence of parenting patterns according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of State Junior High School 5 Kupang in the 2024/2025 academic year, the specific problem is 1) is there an influence of authoritarian parenting patterns according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of State Junior High School 5 Kupang in the 2024/2025 academic year?, 2) is there an effect of permissive parenting according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of State Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang in the 2024/2025 school year?, 3) is there an effect of democratic parenting according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of State Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang in the 2024/2025 school year?. The general purpose of this study was to determine the effect of parenting patterns according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang, the specific objectives were to determine 1) the effect of authoritarian parenting patterns according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang 2) the effect of permissive parenting according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of State Junior High School 5 Kupang, 3) the effect of democratic parenting according to students' perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B of State Junior High School 5 Kupang. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive research. The variables in the study were the independent variable (X) parenting patterns and the dependent variable (Y) student self-adjustment. The population and samples in this study were eighth grade B students, totaling 32 students. The data collection tool is a questionnaire. The research data analysis technique is multiple linear regression. The results of data analysis in general show that, the value of Fcount > Ftabel (10.999> 4.171), meaning that there is an influence of parenting patterns according to student perceptions on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students B State Junior High School 5 Kupang. The results of the data analysis specifically show that, 1) the value of tcount < ttable (-0.579 < 0.361), meaning that there is no effect of authoritarian parenting on the self-adjustment of eighth grade students of State Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang. 2) tcount > ttable (3.972 > 0.361), meaning that there is an effect of permissive parenting on the self-adjustment of eighth grade B students of State Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang. 3) the value of tcount > ttable (3.408> 0.361) means that there is an influence of democratic parenting on the self-adjustment of eighth grade B students of State Junior High School Negeri 5 Kupang and the value of R Square 0.541, meaning that the contribution of parenting patterns according to student perceptions to student self-adjustment is 54.1%. The researcher gave advice to: a)School principals are expected to increase collaboration with counseling teachers to monitor student development, especially in terms of student self-adjustment.b)Counseling teachers are expected to be able to design more appropriate interventions to help students who have difficulty adjusting.c)Students are expected to better understand parental parenting patterns and adapt positively in order to adjust.d) Parents are expected to apply parenting patterns that support children's development so that children can adjust well.
